Activity model

A shared map from intention and current reality to a desired result, change process, and tools.

Why it exists

The activity model prevents a vague question from being mistaken for a complete task. It gives the route a stable vocabulary before any method is selected.

Inputs and outputs

Inputs

  1. What the person wants to change
  2. What is true now
  3. The desired result and its constraints

Outputs

  1. A named decision or activity
  2. A clear next question
  3. A concrete result or plan artifact

Practical example

Situation

“I need to make my project better” is too broad for a useful first move.

Result

The model turns it into “choose one launch decision for this week”, with a visible result and a next action.

Limitations

  1. It does not diagnose a person or organisation.
  2. It does not decide whether a goal is worthwhile.
  3. It needs user judgement when context is incomplete.
